Delete your account
Last updated: November 5, 2026
Glug is made by Glug Wine, Inc. This page explains how to delete your Glug account, what that removes, what we keep, and how to delete single things instead.
In the app
Open Glug and go to Profile, tap the gear to open Settings, then tap Delete account under Account. Glug asks you to confirm twice: the first sheet tells you what deletion removes, and the second asks you to type DELETE. You need an internet connection.
Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone. Your account cannot be restored, and you are signed out on every phone.
By email
If you cannot open the app, email privacy@glug-wine.com and ask us to delete your account. Tell us the phone number or email address you sign in with. We check that the request comes from the account holder before we delete anything, and we confirm by reply when it is done.
What is deleted
Deleting your account removes, at once and permanently:
- Your sign-in details: phone number, email address, password and every signed-in session
- Your profile: display name, profile photo, whether your profile is public, and the month you joined
- Your taste profile, your taste sentence history, your onboarding answers and your city
- Every log: ratings, tasting words, notes, prices, occasions, food pairings, where you drank, the restaurant saved with each log, and the milestones Glug added to your logs
- Your want-to-try list and your wine lists
- Your scan history, the restaurants you added to your scans, and every photo you scanned, wine lists and bottle labels alike
- The picks and restaurant names you shared by link, so every link you shared to a log or to a scan's top picks stops working
- Your follows, follow requests, blocks, likes and comments, including comments on other people's logs
- Your notifications, the notifications your activity created for other people, and the push tokens of your phones
- The reports you sent
- The records of your scans that we keep to improve the app
When you delete in the app, the phone you use also asks Firebase to delete its installation identifier (see Push notifications in our privacy policy).
What is kept
- Reports about you. If someone reported you, one of your logs or one of your comments, we keep that report as a record of moderation: the reason and any note the reporter wrote. It holds no copy of what was reported, and once your account is gone it points at an account id that no longer identifies anyone. We keep these records for as long as we need them to moderate Glug.
- Wines in the catalog. Wines that were added to Glug's catalog from your scans stay in the catalog, with no link to you.
- Your waitlist entry. If you joined the waitlist on glug-wine.com, that entry is separate from your account and is not deleted with it. Email privacy@glug-wine.com and we will delete it.
- An anonymous count. One line with the week you joined, the week you deleted your account and whether you used an iPhone or an Android phone. It has no name, phone number or account id.
Delete single things instead
You do not have to delete your account to remove something. Each of these is permanent too.
- A log. Open the log from your Journal and tap Delete log. Its rating, notes, likes, comments and any milestone go with it, and your taste profile is recalculated without it. A link you shared to it stops working.
- A wine list scan and its photos. In the Scanner tab, open your scan history, tap the delete button on the scan and confirm. The scan and the photos you took for it are deleted, along with the picks and restaurant name kept for a link you shared, which stops working. Photos from bottle scans are not listed in your scan history and cannot be deleted one at a time; they are deleted with your account, or sooner if you email us.
- A comment. Open the log's comments, tap the three dots next to your comment and choose Delete. You can also delete any comment on your own logs.
- Your profile photo. In Settings, tap Edit profile photo, then Remove photo. The photo file is deleted. You can also tap your photo on your profile to reach the same options.
- A restaurant on a scan. On the scan result, tap the × on the restaurant card. The restaurant is removed from that scan. A log you already made from the scan keeps its own copy until you remove it there, and a link you already shared to the scan's top picks keeps the restaurant's name it was shared with; only deleting the scan removes it.
- A restaurant on a log. In the log form, tap the × on the Where row.
- Your city. In Settings, go to Location, tap Your city and choose Use New York (default). Glug goes back to New York, and the city you set is deleted.
